BioMarlene is short of nothing special, but her optimism and trying attitude have made her a true Hufflepuff and a person with many loyal friends.
Her family is halfblooded, although the McKinnon's in general are relatively new to the wizarding world. Marlene's Mother was born and raised in a muggleborn family, recieving her letter like most at the age of 11, and especially shocked at the idea of witchcraft. Her parents urged her to attend though, and although her best friend at the time, a muggle boy she had grown up with, did not recieve the same letter, she attended, and still fell in love and married her childhood friend. McKinnon is one of 5, being the second youngest, and two out of her four siblings attended Hogwarts and graduated before her, just as Marlene's mother had done.
Her father has supported everything magic has stood for (being a muggle) and Marlene has always spoken strongly against purebloods who feel they are more of a 'witch or wizard' than she'll ever be. She's continued doing that, even into her 7th year at Hogwarts, and hopes to pursue a career in which she can protect and argue for witches&wizards with muggleblood in them.
